Chief Deputy Col. Byron Hadley


The Training Unit, directed by Chief Deputy Byron Hadley, is responsible for in-service training and continuing education for all of the agency’s employees. In the spirit of cooperation among local agencies, the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office also opens classes to officers from other law enforcement agencies and makes its range facilities available to them as well.

Under the rules of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Council , certified Peace Officers are required to complete a minimum of 20 training hours annually. The Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office offers its officers the opportunity for 20+ hours annually.

In-Service Training:
Office of the Sheriff- 2 hour block of Instruction
**There will be two (2) training blocks on the same date regarding this class.

The training will be conducted at the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office Training Center. Sgt. Shannon Griffin and/or Cpl. Tim Taylor will be the instructors.

If any outside agency officers wish to attend this block of instruction, on a space available basis, they can register with Chief Deputy B. Hadley @ .
