Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith reported that his agency has made several recent arrest for Burglary, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Probation Violation and V.G.C.S.A. Our investigators have also recovered some of the stolen property related to these incidents.
“On November 20, 2017 a burglary was reported in the area of the 2500 block of Griffin Highway, Meriwether County. Through the course of the investigation our investigators were able to develop a suspect. The suspect in this case who was identified as Troy Jackson was discovered to have an outstanding probation violation warrant for his arrest. Our investigators located Troy Jackson at a residence that he was staying on Park Lane. Upon arresting Troy Jackson for the outstanding probation violation warrants our investigators located property which was taken from the burglary that occurred on Griffin Hwy. Through further investigation our investigators filed theft by receiving stolen property charges against Tyrice Jackson. Tyrice Jackson had stolen property at his residence which is located in close proximity to Troy Jackson that was related to this case investigation. Investigators recovered approximately $300 dollars in stolen property. Troy Leigh Jackson, B/M, 47 years of age of Gay, Ga. has been charged with burglary and probation violation. Tyrice Jackson, B/M, 37 years of age of Gay, Ga. has been charged with theft by receiving stolen property, V.G.C.S.A. possession of methamphetamine and probation violation. Both Jackson’s are being held in the Meriwether County Jail without bond.
On December 4, 2017 deputies responded to the 2500 block of Harmony Church Road, Woodbury, Ga. in regard to a burglary already occurred. Based on the facts and circumstances of this burglary, indicators were present and provided that the perpetrator(s) were someone that was possibly known to the victim. Through the course of the investigation our investigators developed a suspect identified as Lauren Brooke Lucas. It was determined that Lucas had provided cleaning services to the residence over a period of time. Our investigators were able to place Lucas at the scene of the burglary on the date and time of occurrence. Warrants were issued for her arrest. On January 9, 2018 Lauren Brooke Lucas, W/F, 24 years of age of Meadows Drive, Luthersville, Ga. was arrested and booked into the Meriwether County Jail for the offense of Burglary 1st Degree. Lucas is out on a $5,000.00 bond. This incident is under further investigation.
On December 27, 2017 the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office personnel executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Keepsake Lane in reference to the sale of illegal drugs from the location. Our Narcotics Division had been conducting an undercover operation related to the sale of drugs from this location. Drug Agents through the course of the investigation determined that Tobias Meriwether was selling marijuana from the location. Upon execution of the search warrant, Tobias Meriwether, B/M, 20 YOA, Greenville, Ga. was located hiding in a closet and was taken into custody for probation violation along with being charged with V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. Sheriff’s Office personnel also located inside the residence a Tyler Prather 18 YOA of Manchester, Ga. Prather was found to be in possession of marijuana, digital scales and a 9mm firearm that had been reported stolen out of Coweta County, Ga. Prather was arrested and charged with V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. Tobias Meriwether is being held at Meriwether County Jail without bond. Tyler Prather has bond set at $14,500.00
On January 04, 2018, Narcotics Agents had been notified from Officers with the Department of Community Supervision that Kobias Grady, B/M, 27 years of age, of Manchester, Ga. had an active arrest warrant out of Meriwether County for Probation Violation. This probation warrant was related to a previous charge for the offense of sale of marijuana. Narcotic Agents were patrolling the area of Pershing Street Manchester, Ga. and observed Kobias Grady sitting in the passenger’s seat of a vehicle. The vehicle was also occupied by three additional subjects as it was parked in a yard on the side of a house on Pershing Street. Agents went and made contact with Grady identifying themselves as law enforcement multiple times. Grady instructed the subject sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle to flee the area. Agents observed the vehicle being placed in reverse in an attempt to flee the location traveling towards our narcotics agents. Our Narcotics Agents gave loud verbal commands to the driver to stop. The driver then complied and our narcotic agents were able to get the vehicle stopped and remove the driver without further incident. Our Narcotic Agents arrested Kobias Grady and observed him to be in actual possession a large quantity of marijuana located in clear sandwich baggies. In the floorboard of the vehicle at Grady’s feet was a black in color digital scale. Kobias Grady was charged with the offenses of V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Probation Violation. Kobias Grady is being held in the Meriwether County Jail without bond. Total amount of marijuana that was seized is 2.09 ounces.” Sheriff Chuck Smith said.
