Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith reported that his agency has made several recent arrests in regard to the offense of Terroristic Threats an Acts as well as separate arrest for Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act.
“Division On May 10, 2016 our Patrol and Investigative responded to the 400 block of Meadows Dr., Luthersville, Georgia in regard to a report of an incendiary device being thrown into a driveway that exploded. Further investigation into this matter revealed that a glass container containing gasoline with an exposed wick was thrown into a driveway on Meadows Drive. This item commonly referred to as a “Molotov Cocktail” ignited and caused minor damage to the concrete driveway of the residence. Through the course of the investigation our personnel were able to identify and arrest the offender in this case investigation. Our investigators charged Alan Fulford White, W/M, 50 years of age of the 300 block of Meadows Drive, Luthersville, Ga. with the offense of Terroristic Threats an Acts. White was transported to the Meriwether County Jail and is being held without bond.
During the month of March 2016 the Meriwether County Narcotics Division along with the Narcotics Task Force began an undercover investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics in the 100 block of Melvin Harris Road, Manchester, Ga. Through the course of the undercover investigation enough evidence was obtained to secure a search warrant for the residence located at 116 Melvin Harris Road. On May 11, 2016 our units executed a search warrant at the residence and seized drugs, firearms and U.S. Currency from the location. We were able to recover 8.0 grams of marijuana, 4.0 grams of methamphetamine, Sch. II and Sch. IV Narcotics, along with a Taurus 40 cal. semi-automatic handgun during the search. We made two arrests in this case investigation. Johnny “Bob” Gray B/M, 62 years of age of said address was charged with the offenses of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, V.G.C.S.A. Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic 2 counts, Possession off a Schedule IV Narcotic 2 counts, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. Gray was transported to the Meriwether County Jail with his bond was set at $62,000.00. Also arrested was Cleo Brown B/M, 62 years, of Indianola Drive, Manchester, Ga. Brown was transported to the Meriwether County Jail and charged with V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Cocaine, with bond being set at $5,000.00.
Search warrant Melvin harries rd., May 11,2016
On May 18, 2016 around 3:30 p.m. one of our patrol deputies was patrolling in the 2000 block of Sewell Road, Hogansville, Ga. when he initiated a traffic stop on a blue in color Ford Ranger for a seat belt violation. While conducting the traffic stop investigation on the driver who had been identified as Logan Joseph Nipp W/M, 31 years of age of the 700 block of Askew Ave., Hogansville, Ga. it was discovered that his license was suspended. Through further investigation the deputy observed drug paraphernalia in plain view within the driver’s immediate possession. Also located was 1.99 grams of methamphetamine within the vehicle. Nipp was transported to the Meriwether County Jail and charged with the offenses of V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Methamphetamine, Driving on a Suspended License and Seat Belt Violation. Nipp is currently in jail on bond set at $7,260.00” Sheriff Chuck Smith stated.
