Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith reported that his agency has made two arrests related to a traffic stop on Interstate I-85, Hogansville, Meriwether County, Georgia.
“On March 8, 2016 around 12:00 a.m., our K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate I-85 just north of Hogansville, Ga. in regard to a moving traffic violation. Upon our K-9 Deputy making contact with the driver of the silver in color Chevrolet Impala he could plainly detect a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Upon further investigation the driver and the front seat passenger gave our K-9 Deputy additional indicators that there were drugs in the vehicle. Our K-9 “Rambo” alerted to his handler the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed over a pound of marijuana and a loaded 40 cal. handgun, along with U.S. Currency. The driver of the vehicle, Calvin Jenkins, 24 years of age with a listed address of Auburn, Alabama was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana more than 28 grams and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. The front seat passenger Anntwinnett Dixon, 33 years of age with a listed address in Columbus, Georgia was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana more than 28 grams. Both Jenkins and Dixon were transported to the Meriwether County Jail. Jenkins bond was set at $10,000.00 and Dixon’s was set at $5,000.00.” Sheriff Chuck Smith stated.
