Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith reported that his personnel have made several recent arrests for the above listed offenses.
“On January 18, 2016 around 4:00 p.m. Meriwether County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 1400 block of Dukes Waddell Road, Woodbury, Ga. in reference to a report of a subject being shot. Upon arrival on the scene our personnel located a white male subject that had been shot in the lower extremities. The male subject was transported to an area hospital for treatment of the injuries received. Our investigators responded to the location and were able to identify the shooter as being a Christopher Jacob Burke, W/M, 24 years of age. Burke had fled the scene in a small compact vehicle prior to our arrival on the scene. We then began to track Burke’s whereabouts and were able to take him into custody without incident at a residence on McGill Road, Manchester, Ga. Our investigators were able to locate the handgun used in this assault in a wooded area off of Chapel Hill Road, Manchester, Ga. The weapon was reported stolen out of Harris County, Ga. during the month of December 2015. Through our investigation we were also able to link Burke to a burglary that occurred on River Road, Manchester, Ga. prior to the incident on Dukes Waddell Road. We have also linked Burke to a previous burglary on Whitehouse Parkway, Warm Springs, Ga. Christopher Jacob Burke is being held in the Meriwether County Jail without bond in reference to the charges of one count each of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and two counts of Burglary 1st Degree.” Sheriff Smith stated.
“On January 19, 2016 around 10:00 a.m. our Meriwether County School Resource Officer’s, Narcotics Division and Patrol Deputies responded to Unity Elementary School in regard to a reported disruptive subject at the school. Upon arrival on the scene our personnel made contact with Eric Alan Robinson, B/M, 49 years of age. According to information that was received from school personnel Robinson was at the school for a parent student related issue. At some point Robinson went into the boy’s bathroom at the school. During this time a student went to the restroom and came back out telling a faculty member that the subject was smoking weed. The Unity School Administration then followed their school safety plan protocol and placed the school on lock down. School Staff made contact with Robinson who became irate and disruptive with school personnel. When our personnel arrived on scene contact was made with Robinson. Our personnel could smell the strong odor of burnt marijuana on Robinson’s person and in the bathroom area where he had been. Robinson continued his confrontational demeanor with our personnel. Robinson was placed under arrest by our personnel at that time. He was found to be in possession of marijuana less than one ounce and was in possession of a knife with a blade in excess of two inches in a coat pocket. Eric Alan Robinson, B/M of Pulpwood Road, Greenville, Ga. was transported to the Meriwether County Jail and was charged with the offenses of Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce, (Felony) Carrying a Weapon on School Property, Disrupting Public Schools and Disorderly Conduct. Robinson’s bond was set at 10,000.00 with a no contact order issued by the Magistrate Judge. This case will be submitted to the Meriwether County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution by our School Resource Division.” Sheriff Smith advised.
“I appreciated the effort put forth by my personnel to get these subjects in custody in an expeditious manner without further incident.” Sheriff Smith advised.
