“During the 2014/2015 school year our School Resource Division received information from a concerned parent that made allegations of inappropriate contact between a teacher and a student at Manchester High School, Manchester, Ga. At that time we called in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist our School Resource Divisional Supervisor in this investigation. There was a collaborative effort between our agency, the GBI and the Board of Education to protect the students once this credible information came forth. According to information that we received Scholz was relieved of his duties as a teacher immediately by The Meriwether County Board of Education at the onset of this investigation. After multiple interviews with current and former students along with the collection of electronic records the evidence in this matter was submitted to the Meriwether County Grand Jury. This resulted in a grand jury indictment that was issued on August 20, 2015 by the Superior Court of Meriwether County. Once an order to pick up was issued we placed this on GCIC for a hold and pick up by our jurisdiction. We had information that Scholz had left the area. Scholz was apprehended in Cobb County at Mackland Road at its intersection with Villarica Road by Cobb County P.D. Scholz address was listed as Oakleigh Manor Court, Powder Springs, Ga. Scholz is being held in the Meriwether County Jail on no bond.” Sheriff Smith stated.
