Search Warrant Execution in Reference to Theft by Deception and Financial Identity Fraud with an Arrest / Violation of Georgia Control Substance Act Possession of Methamphetamine with 2 Arrest

Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith reported that his agency in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Office of Special Investigations recently executed a search warrant and made an arrest related to the offenses of Theft by Deception and Financial Identity Fraud, being operated out of Manchester, Ga. Also his patrol division has made a recent arrest related to the Violation of the Georgia Control Substance Act.

“In response to an identity theft complaint from a Georgia based business the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Office of Special Investigations along with the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into identity theft and theft by deception. The suspect, identified as Adonis Bray of Manchester, Ga. attempted on several occasions to fraudulently use individual and business information to obtain money that did not belong to him. On February 16, 2016 agents with the department of revenue along with investigators with the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Manchester Police executed a search warrant at the residence of Adonis Bray which yielded valuable evidence for the investigation. In addition to the search warrant, Adonis Bray was arrested on 5 counts of Theft by Deception and 2 counts of Financial Identity Fraud. Adonis Bray, 34 years of age of E. Foster Street, Manchester, Ga. was transported to the Meriwether County Jail and charged as stated. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected. This is a collaborative release regarding this case investigation.” Sheriff Chuck Smith stated.

“On February 20, 2016 at around 10:36 pm one of our patrol units was patrolling in the area of Sullivan Mill Road in close proximity to Joe Anthony Road. During this time a vehicle was observed traveling north bound with equipment violations under the cover of darkness. A traffic stop was conducted at which time the driver exited the vehicle and began shouting at the deputy. The deputy gave the subject verbal commands to have a seat back inside the vehicle. The deputy observed the driver who was identified as Phillip McDonald, toss an object onto the ground as he was getting back in the vehicle. Upon further investigation the deputy retrieved the thrown item which was determined to be suspected methamphetamine. A passenger in the vehicle identified as Tina Barber was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine during the traffic stop investigation. Phillip Keith McDonald W/M, 53 years of age of Sullivan Mill Road, Senoia, Ga. was charged with V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Methamphetamine and Operating a Motor Vehicle on a Limited Driving Permit. Tina Lorraine Barber, W/F, 46 years of age of Garner Road, Gay, Ga. was charged with V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Methamphetamine. Both suspects were transported to the Meriwether County Jail and charged as stated.
