Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith reported that his agency has made two arrest related to February 17, 2015 murder investigation of Derrick Alford at 191 Odessa Road, Greenville, Ga.
“As previously reported on February 17, 2015 around 7:51 p.m. our agency responded to a residence at 191 Odessa Road, Greenville, Ga. after being dispatched by Meriwether County 911 reference a subject being shot. Upon arrival on the scene we located an unresponsive person lying in the yard in close proximity to the back porch. The victim was identified as Derrick Deshon Alford, 36 years of age, who was a resident of the location. It was determined that Alford had been shot numerous times. Alford was pronounced dead at the scene by the Meriwether County Coroner. We then began conducting a murder investigation. We called in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit to assist us with the crime scene processing. This has been an ongoing investigation in which we have interviewed numerous persons and submitted a substantial amount of evidence to the GBI Crime Lab. During the month of June 2015 our agency began investigating another murder, which the victim of that case was identified as Kenneth Spice. We were able to develop three suspects in that case based on leads that we received. We were able to obtain arrest warrants for these individuals in which they were arrested for the murder of Kenneth Spice and have been in custody since August 2015. Our investigation into that case provided us with information and evidence that linked two of the three suspects to the Alford case. We have recently received conclusive identification back from the GBI Crime Lab on evidence that was submitted from the Spice investigation that matched the Alford case. Our investigators have obtained arrest warrants for the offense of murder in the Alford case. We have charged Timique Slaton, B/M, 23 years of age, previous address listed as 140 Mallard Dr., Newnan, Ga. and his brother Alex Everett, B/M, 20 years of age, previous address listed as 10 Ringer Road, Greenville, Ga. with one count each of murder related to the Derrick Alford investigation. They are being held without bond related to this murder investigation.” Sheriff Chuck Smith stated.
