Sheriff Smith stated that from the onset of this investigation his units along with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations began developing leads as to the whereabouts of Timothy Jody Chambley. When it was apparent that Chambley had absconded from the area, contact was made with the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force. Sheriff Smith stated that our units along with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office had tracked Chambley to the Powder Springs, Ga. area. We were able to obtain an address from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office of a relative of Chambley in Powder Springs, Ga., Smith said. All of the available information was forwarded to the U.S. Marshall’s and they were able to capture Chambley without incident within about 4 hours of receiving the information from our investigative units. The vehicle that was stolen from 622 Williamson Road was also located by the U.S. Marshall’s at the residence in Powder Springs, Ga. along with other items that are believed to be linked to our crime scene, said Sheriff Smith.

Sheriff Smith stated that Timothy Jody Chambley is being held without bond in the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility. Chambley has been charged with the offenses of murder, aggravated battery 2 counts, and kidnapping. Additional charges are pending against Chambley related to this investigation. Sheriff Smith stated that he is appreciative of the help given by all agencies involved, to include; Woodbury P.D., Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations and the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force, in this investigation and the capture of Chambley. Smith stated that he appreciates the assistance given to his agency by all who were involved, whether they were first responders, 911 operators or witnesses.

Sheriff Smith stated that his thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victims in this matter.
